JC Chemistry A Levels – Halogenalkanes & Halogenoarenes; Nucleophilic substitution (Sn1 & Sn2)

(0.0) | 0 rated

We are Macro learning (Macrotutors.com) and I am Sean, your JC Chemistry tutor (Mobile - 86135830). We will be addressing misconceptions about JC chemistry and teach on how to study organic chemistry effectively. More importantly, we will be running through 2 topics in detail – Halogenoalkanes & Halogenoarenes and nucleophilic substitution.

How to memorizes and study organic chemistry effectively

“There is a lot to memorise for organic chemistry” – Is that true? Let’s find out in this video lesson and how we can help make this preparation work much easier for you. We will provide reaction maps and teach you how to use it effectively. We will formulate the strategy for you – Compartmentalise, “Know thy enemy” and Think of how organic chemistry is “1 big topic”.

Halogenalkanes & Halogenoarenes

We will be introducing what is Halogenalkanes & Halogenoarenes, the preparation of Halogenalkanes & Halogenoarenes and reaction synthesis.

Understanding Nucleophilic substitution (Bimolecular Nucleophilic Substituion - Sn2)

We will be doing a term breakdown to understand what is Nucleophilic substitution, 1 of the 2 ways of doing Nucleophilic substitution (Bimolecular Nucleophilic Substituion - Sn2) and a little practice. Lastly, we will be running through Kinetics of Sn2, Energetics of Sn2 and Stereochemistry of Sn2.

Understanding Nucleophilic substitution (Unimolecular Nucleophilic Substituion – Sn1)

We will introduce the other way of doing Nucleophilic substitution (Unimolecular Nucleophilic Substituion – Sn1). We will run thorough in detail the Kinetics, Energetics and Sterochemistry of Sn1. Lastly, we will end this video lessons with a comparison summary of Sn1 and Sn2.

Deriving Sn1 or Sn2 based on data

In this video lesson, we will be running through past year school exam practice questions.

Deriving Sn1 or Sn2 based on structure

In this last video lessons, we will be covering the effects of structure on relative rates of Sn1 & Sn2 and the outcomes of chloroethane and Tert-butyl when it undergoes Sn1 & Sn2. We hope that our video lessons were able to give you some eureka moments in JC chemistry.
